Prompt writing is the core skill of the Suno AI music generator. Credits disappear on vague lines; they stick when you name genre, energy, and what the track is for.
A usable prompt reads like a brief to a session player: “mid-tempo indie pop, warm, 100 BPM, soft female vocal, electric piano, fingerpicked guitar, bedtime vlog.” That is specific enough to copy and specific enough to debug.
After you have one decent take, stop adding synonyms. Change tempo or vocal gender only. Then open a matching song on the works page and steal its skeleton, not its melody.

Common mistakes
Dumping ten style tags
The model averages them. Pick a primary style, then one texture. Save the rest for a remix take.
Changing everything on retry
If you rewrite the whole prompt, you cannot tell what fixed the chorus. One variable per generation.
English lyrics in a Chinese job without a check
You can request Chinese lyrics, but you still need to listen for pronunciation. Adjust characters or pinyin after the first take, not before.
